Privacy Policy
Effective date: 5 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Malta Darts Association (“MDA”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you use the MDA Arena mobile application and related online services.
1. Information we may collect
Depending on the features you use and your role in the system, we may collect:
- Account information: name, email address, username, club or organisation, role and authentication information.
- Darts and competition information: player names, team or club details, fixtures, scores, averages, rankings, results and disciplinary or match-administration records where applicable.
- Support information: messages and information you provide when contacting us.
- Technical information: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, diagnostic logs and security records needed to operate, protect and troubleshoot the service.
- Uploaded content: photos, documents or other material only where an MDA Arena feature allows or requires an authorised user to upload it.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and manage authorised user accounts;
- operate competitions, fixtures, scoring, rankings and match administration;
- display official sporting results and statistics;
- provide support and respond to enquiries;
- maintain security, prevent unauthorised access and investigate misuse;
- diagnose faults, improve reliability and maintain the service;
- comply with legal, regulatory and sporting-governance obligations.
3. Legal bases
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process personal data where necessary to provide the requested service or administer participation, to meet legal obligations, for legitimate interests such as operating and securing MDA competitions, or on the basis of consent where consent is required.
4. Sharing of information
We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared only as reasonably necessary with:
- authorised MDA officials, clubs, competition administrators and match officials;
- technology and hosting providers that process information on our behalf;
- sporting bodies or event organisers where required for an official competition;
- public authorities where disclosure is required by law.
Official match results, player names, rankings and sporting statistics may be made publicly available where this is part of the competition or the legitimate reporting of sporting results.
5. Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Competition results and historical sporting records may be retained for archival, governance and statistical purposes. Account and support information may be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required, subject to legal and organisational retention obligations.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a copy of your personal data, and you may object to certain processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, email support@mdaarena.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
8. Account deletion
Users may request deletion of their MDA Arena account and associated personal data by following the instructions on our Account Deletion page. Certain official competition records may need to be retained or anonymised rather than deleted.
9. Children and young players
MDA Arena may contain competition information involving youth players. Account access for minors should be managed only in accordance with MDA rules and applicable law. Parents or legal guardians may contact us regarding a minor’s personal information.
10. International processing
Some service providers may process information outside Malta or the European Economic Area. Where applicable, we use legally recognised safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, our practices or legal requirements change. The effective date shown above will be updated when changes are published.
